On

September 27th, 2024, at the "Il Sagittario" racetrack in Latina,

Italy, Leonardo Corporation presented its E-Cat SKLep NGU technology in

action. The demonstration featured the E-Cat system integrated into a

Renault Twizy electric vehicle, and the validation was overseen by

independent electronic engineer Maico Marzocchi, a specialist in the

Renault Twizy.

Maico

Marzocchi worked alongside Andrea Rossi to modify the Renault Twizy,

equipping it with Rossi’s E-Cat NGU technology. The E-Cat generator used

in the test was rated at 3 kW, consisting of 300 individual 10 W E-Cat

units.

The

demonstration compared two identical Renault Twizy 80 electric

vehicles: one unmodified, and the other outfitted with E-Cat power

modules and the necessary electronics to continuously charge its battery

while driving. Before the test, the batteries were measured, with the

unmodified car starting at 96% charge and the E-Cat-powered car at

62.18%. Additionally, the unmodified vehicle weighed 513 kg, while the

E-Cat vehicle weighed 611 kg—this weight difference accounted for the

E-Cat unit and its associated components (the circuitry weighed 10 kg,

the E-Cat itself 8 kg, and the steel housing 80 kg).

The

test began at 10:40 a.m. Both vehicles drove around the 600-meter

racetrack, with the unmodified Twizy driven by a Leonardo Corporation

employee, while Andrea Rossi and Maico Marzocchi alternated driving the

E-Cat-powered vehicle. After 2 hours and 20 minutes, the unmodified

Twizy ran out of battery power, having covered 73 kilometers. Meanwhile,

the E-Cat vehicle continued driving until the demonstration concluded

at 5:00 p.m., having covered 201 kilometers—nearly three times the

distance of the unmodified car.

This

demonstration marked a significant milestone in the development of

E-Cat technology, but there is still much work to be done. The potential

impact of a system like the E-Cat on electric vehicles is tremendous,

but many questions remain:



  • Does this mean future EVs could drive indefinitely?



  • Will we see an independent report on the results soon?



  • Are more tests planned in the near future?
